Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

This policy covers SEU Cover Page: the website at cover.seuvoice.com and its Android app, SEU CoverGen. It is a free tool made by SEU Voice, an independent student project, to help Southeast University students make cover pages and PDFs. It is not an official Southeast University service.

The short version

  • No account, no ads, and we never sell your data.
  • Your cover details, PDFs, photos and scans are processed on your device. Your files are never uploaded to us.
  • We use analytics (PostHog) to see which features are used and where people get stuck. On the website this includes session recordings, which can show the names and student IDs you type.

What stays on your device

  • Cover details. Your name, student ID, department, batch, saved courses and design choices are saved in your browser (or the app) so the form is filled in next time. They are not sent to us. Clear your browser’s site data, or uninstall the app, to remove them.
  • PDF tools. PDFs, photos and scans you add are read and edited entirely on your device. Your current work is kept on the device for up to 24 hours so a refresh doesn’t lose it, and is removed when you start over.
  • Camera. The camera is used only while the scanner is open. Frames are processed on your device and are not sent anywhere.
  • Downloads and shares. Files you download are saved on your device. When you share a file, it goes only to the app or person you choose.

A share link contains your cover details inside the web address itself, so anyone you give it to can see them. We don’t store share links. Like any web address, the link can appear in our hosting provider’s standard request logs when it is opened. We remove it from analytics.

Analytics and session recordings

We use PostHog to understand how the tool is used and to fix problems. It collects:

  • Usage events: pages visited and actions such as “downloaded a PDF” or “scanned 3 pages”, with details like the chosen design or page count.
  • Device information: device type, operating system, browser, screen size, the page you came from, and an approximate location (country and city) worked out from your IP address.
  • A random ID stored on your device so visits can be counted. We don’t attach your name or email to it.
  • Session recordings on the website: a replay of how a page was used, including clicks, scrolling, what was on screen and what was typed in the form. This includes the names, student IDs and course details you enter and the cover preview. Pages you add in PDF tools are excluded from recordings, but file names can appear. We use recordings only to find bugs and confusing steps.
  • Session recordings in the Android app hide what you type and the cover preview.

Analytics data is stored by PostHog, Inc. on servers in the United States. On the website it is sent through our own domain first. Session recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days; other analytics data is kept for up to 12 months. You can block analytics with a content blocker; every feature still works without it.

The Android app (SEU CoverGen)

  • Scanner. The app uses Google’s ML Kit document scanner, provided through Google Play services. Your pages are processed on your device. Google may collect diagnostic and usage information about the scanner, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Permissions. The app doesn’t request camera access itself (Google’s scanner handles the camera). On Android 9 and older it asks for storage access, only to save your PDFs to the Download folder.
  • Updates. On Wi-Fi, the app checks cover.seuvoice.com for a newer version and downloads it. This sends nothing about you beyond what any web request includes.

Hosting

The website is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages. Fonts and the page-detection model are served from our own domain, so loading the site doesn’t contact Google or other font or model providers.

Who we share data with

Only the providers named above (PostHog for analytics, Netlify for hosting, and Google for the scanner in the Android app), and only so the service works. We don’t sell or rent personal data and don’t use it for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law requires it.

Children

SEU Cover Page is made for university students and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used it and want their data removed, contact us.

Your choices and rights

  • Remove everything stored on your device by clearing the site’s data in your browser or uninstalling the app.
  • Ask us to see or delete analytics data and recordings about you. There are no accounts, so tell us roughly when you used the tool and on which device and browser, and we’ll find and delete it.
  • Use a content blocker to stop analytics altogether.

Security

The site and app use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to analytics is limited to the people who maintain SEU Cover Page.

Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
